The management of diversity in terms of inclusion and equity includes very diverses dimensions and aspects. Over the past few years, all Catalan universities have made very important progress in recognizing diversity as a mere transversal characteristic that reflects the difference and uniqueness of each human being and that can never be translated into a form of inequality. This commitment, however, may have forgotten and neglected other forms of diversity that are not biological or behavioral, but cultural, such as dialectal variation. With this communication we want to analyze how the Catalan university system is treating the use of dialectal variants by students who come from different parts of the Catalan-speaking territory and reflect on whether or not this treatment is the most reasonable from the perspective of the linguistic rights of the university community and the management of linguistic diversity.
